Here are the Ten Commandments for maximum (particularly home business) success. Thou shalt follow them if profits be thy goal.



Author's program note. As I write this article, the stirring chords of  Elmer Bernstein's  score for the 1956 classic "The Ten Commandments" are ringing in my ear, by  turns sultry, bombastic, holy and hubristic, suitable for philistines  everywhere, a  supreme illustration of why we go to the movies in the first place and  why we  always will; "of course, I want butter on my popcorn!"

 Specifically I am listening to the part that accompanies the Hebrew  slaves  as they leave Egypt and with joyful muddle begin their historic trek to  freedom.  As visualized by director Cecil B. DeMille (who had the chuptzah to cast himself  as the voice of God on Mt. Sinai), it is a moment of unsurpassed  happiness,  never mind that there's a whopping anachronism every minute. A man who  could rewrite the Bible could hardly be expected to toe the historic  line. He  wanted a Hollywood-style exodus... and what Mr. DeMille wanted, Mr.  DeMille  got.

 Thus, for this article, go to any search engine and find the music that  helped make  this clunker the seventh highest grossing film of all times. Well might  Nefertari, Throne  Princess of Egypt, (played by Anne Baxter as if dressed for a rendezvous with a pool  boy in Bevery Hills) say "O, Moses,  Moses" and then say it over and  over again.  The folks in the grand days certainly knew what they were doing... The  real question  is, do you? Let's put you under the microscope and see.

 1) Thou shalt not have money as thy prime objective. Of course you want  to make  money with your business, as much money as possible. That must never be  forgotten  or disputed. However, it's how you set about getting this money that's  the key to the  situation. Consider this...

 Years ago there was a program on t.v. which gave as its prize so many  minutes in a toy  shop. You could rush hither and yon grabbing everything within reach in  an orgy of  greed and high-octane avarice, damn the torpedoes, full speed ahead,  quick you've  only got 3 seconds left. This, I shouldn't have to tell you is NOT how  your business  should be run; capturing customers, squeezing customers, maximum  fleecing not  only permitted but encouraged. Exhilarating this might be... even  profitable this may  be (for a time) but it isn't business. It's organized larceny.

 Business has a different objective than merely holding customers upside  down and  emptying their pockets by any and all means, speed being the objective,  not  service. For those in this category, "Service with a smile" is a snare  capturing the  unwary, the equivalent of the big bad wolf dressing up in grandma's  bloody duds, "All  the better to eat you with, my dear" the corporate logo and policy.

 2) Thou shalt tend your business so it supports you for the long-term,  not just the  short. The first home-based business I remember was my Uncle Ray's farm  cut  with sweat and determination from the great windswept prairies of  Illinois. There he  defined for me, with few words but maximum dedication what one must do  to make  business work. What he did he made clear, he did for himself and wife,  but far  more importantly he did for his three children... and so, sustained by  his plan, he  did not merely work the land; he tended the land upon which his business was based;  he cherished and honored the land. You must do the same.

 3) Thou shalt give value to thy customer. We all have before us an  enterprise that  personifies, exemplifies and signifies how a customer must be treated;  that is, if you  want to gain the adherence and loyalty of that customer. That enterprise is Wal-Mart.   .  (founded 1962), and it became in short-order the premier retailer of the Great Republic,  thus the greatest business of the greatest country on Earth.

 How did they do it? In a single word, "value." Not only did they make a  fetish of delivering  value, they turned that delivery into a live, mesmerizing event as they, with art and skill,  slashed prices before your grateful eyes, their every move calculated to capture not just  eye but time, heart and their next purchase and the one after that...  Money, you see,  follows value. Thus delivering customer value is the first, the last,  the only thing.

 4) Honor thy customer. We all "know" the importance of customers; at  least we think  we do. But this is a promise far too often honored in the breach, which  is to say, hardly honored at all. Your policy should be encapsulated in these words:  "Check with us  first. Our value cannot be beat. See for yourself." Then do an  apples-to-apples strict  comparison with how you support your customers by actively enabling them to retain  more of their money. Don't just think it... don't just do it... always  make sure you have  informed your customers about what you've done. In this age of e-mail,  blogs, and  video marketing, that should be a piece of cake.

 5) Thou shalt try to buy your own product. As I write this article, it  is just after Christmas. This year my holiday was marred by companies over promising and under  delivering  products and services. The Boston Globe, for one, proved again that no  matter what  great things are promised, the failure to deliver the basics makes a  mockery of each and every grandiloquent assertion from the boardroom. Words, just words;  each more suspect  than the last.

 Thus, day after day, I called and yet again attempted to use a simple  credit card to order  home delivery (and across the street from Harvard University no less) of my daily  newspaper. To no avail. Calls were made, calls were answered, more  pledges were  made, more disappointment (and some hot language) engendered. Nothing  worked.  Thus did John Henry, brand-new owner of this venerable rag, show me what my  subscription was worth and so punched another hole in his sinking ship.  Copywriters  might ply their motivating trade... but it all came to naught in the  subscription department.  If he tried to order his own paper, he'd see for himself... I hope his  experience parallels  mine so he gets the whole picture of muddle and rooted inefficiency.

 6)  Thou shalt handle complaints with speed, thoroughness and zest. Want to know  how ordinary people handle complaints? They don't. They toss them into  the circular file with the most cursory of readings; then to the land fill. You,  however, you who  aspire to greatness and greater profits, must do better. You must see  that each  complaint points the way to improvements of every kind. Thus, properly  handled,  each complaint leads to increased profits. Is that how you do things  now?

 Consider the way you handled your last complaint. This may be painful,  but no pain, no  gain. Did you handle the complaint at once? Or did you put it in the  "Raven" file, to be  dealt with "Nevermore"? I think we both know, don't we?

 Now hear this, the way you handle complaints determines not merely how  fast and  how certainly your business will grow, but whether you have a business  at all. Act  accordingly... and do it with a smile, even it that smile be more forced than sincerely  meant. In this department as all others, practice makes perfect.

 7) Know thy staff. Here again is a commandment clearly known but too  seldom  honored. Do you even know the names of the people who are straining  every sinew  to advance you? Or are these just numbers on a page? Try this.

 See how long it takes you to write the names of the staff members you  are  immediately responsible for. Do these names come easily, or must you  must strain  to remember?

 Staff members must be honored, not just dealt with as quickly and  cursorily as  possible. Know their names, their family details, their good points, and bad. This  is not merely your job; it must be seen as your privilege. There is  after all no greater  honor than helping a fellow citizen of Spaceship Earth rise. Exercise  this privilege  at every opportunity.

 8) Reward both customers and staff spontaneously, when they least expect it.  After you become an adult, most of life's surprises are unwelcome,  involving as they  so often do frantic intelligence about health and financial matters.  Such surprises  unsettle and upset, and are not at all what I have in mind.

 Instead, become the master of unanticipated surprises that brighten  lives and help  build lifelong relationships, for these relationships are absolutely  essential for business  and personal success and satisfaction.

 Thus, seek out customers and employees and give them unexpected presents  ranging from a pair of movie passes, gift certificates to a fine retail  store, or a week-end  in Cancun. Your kindnesses will never be forgotten... and if that isn't  good business,  I don't know what is.

 9) Thou shalt  pay your suppliers at once. Whilst I was writing this  article, I received  an SOS call from one of my suppliers, a man whose organizational skills  are (I'm  chagrined to say) "challenged". He needed to pay some crucial bills and  would  I mind wiring funds for work he had not even invoiced me? I was able,  and so the  bank wire went out that very day.  His thanks were immediate, warm and  effusive.

 Why do such a good deed? Because with it you have bought yourself a  future favor  for need yet unknown. Here is a variation on this theme. When I'm able, I often send  funds "on account" to my various suppliers; that is for no invoice in  particular but  my account balance in general and not yet communicated to me. This never fails  to astonish these suppliers, who, like you, live in the area of "slow  pays" or, worst,  "no pays." Your name will be blessed accordingly.

Review of Worldprofit Member new services and developments for year 2013.

How To Pick a Legitimate Home Business Opportunity



You've seen the emails, the offers, the promises and the claims. Everyone it seems has a way to help you make money online.

But how do you know who you can trust? How do you know what system works? How do you protect yourself?  

The fact is that you CAN earn money online from legitimate sources, here's what to look for when picking an online business opportunity.

Products or Services with actual value

Many companies including large companies like Amazon and ClickBank offer what is known as an Affiliate marketing program, or sometimes called a Reseller program. This allows you to promote a company's products or services and earn a commission when a sale is made through your website link.   The key in knowing what is legitimate is to be sure you are actually promoting a real product, or a digital product, or an actually service.  Beware of selling anything that seems without substance, and has no real market value.   An example of something suspect would be getting paid to recruit people into a program who have not paid any money to do so.  All business online and off works when there is an exchange of money for a product or service.    Pyramid schemes exist online and off and are an example of focus on recruitment into a program rather then the sale of an actual product. In the case of a pyramid scheme, and example is someone paying to join a program but receives no product or service of REAL value in return.  In short, make sure that you are actually selling something of value. 


Customer Service and Support

Legitimate companies that sell actual products and services will support or service what they sell. In other words, good companies will have a Customer Support Department, or a Service Department or Technical Support division to assist customers who have either bought a product or intend to do so.    Reputable companies offer this support in any number of ways, online chat, support forums, Twitter, Facebook, telephone support, or online support.  


Time in business

Legitimate business opportunities most trustworthy are often those that have stood the test of time.  On the web it is very easy to set up a company, sell questionable products and services, then disappear into the night when the business practices come into question.   When picking an online business opportunity select a company that has been around for at least a few years. Companies that continue to exist are usually those that demonstrate an interest in keeping their customers happy, are accountable, and adhere to policy and legislation that permits them to provide a product or service.

Reputation

When picking a reputable business opportunity people will often look to review sites for feedback from others. This can offer you some interesting details about what people think about a company and how the company responds to complaints.  In reading the reviews though keep an open mind knowing that no company exists without complaints against it. Good companies that you would want to associate with, are those that try to address customer complaints or resolve issues brought to their attention.  People with an axe to grind will sometime post negative reviews and hide in the anonymity of that post.  So be  smart when reading review sites, and look for dates, patterns or themes and try to separate the intelligent comments from the less helpful and questionable ones.


Look before you leap

When you decide on which business opportunity you wish to join, be sure to take your time and read over what you are agreeing to before you sign on the dotted line or hit the submit button. Determine what your up front cost is, your monthly cost (if any), your ongoing cost? What happens if you want to cancel, is there a guarantee, or is there any long term obligation or a penalty for cancelling?  Find out how your sales will be tracked, how often will you paid, for which services and how will you be paid.

In summary, here are 5 questions to ask yourself for any company you are considering for a home business opportunity.

1. How long has the company been in business? What is their reputation?

2. What is the product or service you will be selling? What is the value in the market place? There should ALWAYS be a product or service being sold.

3. What is the initial cost to get started in the business? What do you get for that amount of money? What are the ongoing costs? 

4. What kind of support or service will you receive as an Affiliate Marketer or Reseller for the company to help you make sales? What kind of support of service will the people you refer receive when they make a purchase?

5. How much money are you paid by this company when you make a sale, how often, and how will your sales be tracked?  

These questions and information contained within are a guideline to help you make a smart decision about an online business opportunity that is right for you.

One final bit of advise. Once you have found a company to represent be sure to be realistic about your earnings and accept some responsibility for your own success.  At the end of the day, your success comes down to you, and your efforts.  It won't matter what business opportunity you select if you don't take the time to learn about the program, learn how to market online, and make an honest consistent effort to build your own success.

The 7 numbers that ensure business sales, profits, and wealth. I'll tell youthe secret... but I bet you won't use it! Yet you SAY you want to make money. Pshaw!

 Author's program note. It's far too early in the morning for me to be up and  at 'em like I am. But I'm on a rescue mission, yeah, a real Florence Nightingale.  I'm about nothing less than saving your bacon by sharing -- and in every particular -- one absolutely crucial piece of advice; advice that spells the difference between  just getting by in your business, profits scarce and spotty and making M-O-N-E-Y!

 Let me ask you a question, and ask it in all seriousness. Do you REALLY want  a business that makes you money EVERY SINGLE DAY? I know you. At this point  in the drama, you're going to tell me -- because you might actually believe -- that  you are doing every single thing  you can do to get people to call you. And because  you believe this and actually believe that you are already doing it, that you don't  need to do another thing.

 I'm here to tell you different, and the extent to which you "get" what I'm revealing  here is the extent to which you make money.

 Let's start by looking at the marketing documents you've got now for therein lies  the problem... AND the solution.

 You want customers... but you aren't doing everything on Earth to get them to  call you... amazing!

 It's time to take a good close look at the marketing documents you are using  right now.

 Unless you have good counter tops with plenty of clear space at the ready, it's time  to put the ol' kitchen table to work  -- again; the venerated place from which you may  have launched the business you planned to be a glory to the world, an ever growing  financial cornucopia for your old age. Just sitting at this table again, the dreams of  Auld Lang Syne rising ineluctably to the surface, may be a jolt, especially if the big  dreams of yesterday have generated nothing more than the puny results of today.  Let's take a look...

 It's time to drag out every single marketing document you're using, developing, or  planning to use. It's time you put each one under a microscope and take a real good  look-see at precisely what marketing you're doing... not merely what you think you're  doing. Be prepared for the shock of your life. Get a good strong chair and the smelling  salts you're sure to need... and maybe a friend or two or three with palmetto fans and  balm for your ego, about to be severely bruised. Ready? Then let's get going on  your hunting and gathering expedition.

 List every single form of marketing you are currently using offline... and on; that is  brochures, Yellow Pages ads, anything you mail, package stuffers, match book covers,  media releases, catalogs, articles and books, messages on envelopes... get the  picture? This phase of Operation Profit is going to take a while because you have  never, ever done this;  thereby depriving you of seeing -- in one place -- every single  thing you are using and PAYING FOR to generate more business and generate it NOW.

 Look closely, breathe deeply.

 The first thing to consider after you've artfully arranged every single marketing document  you're using in front of you is this sobering thought: you have spent a ton of money on  this stuff. But is it working; is it, that is, making you money? At this crucial moment in  your affaires, you cannot afford to THINK. Instead, you must KNOW. You must be  stern, unyielding, absolutely 100% focused on what you're spending... and what you're  getting; an accounting which will very likely make you most glum and chagrined indeed.  That's a shame... but you cannot advance without this critical analysis. You cannot  afford to be a sissy now, and that's a fact.

 The close scrutiny that can  pay off big time IF you learn from it and make all the  necessary changes -- FAST!

 First, does every single marketing communication include your name, address,  email address, URL, AND phone number? Remember this: your marketing  communications are only as good, as useful, and as remunerative as they should  be IF and ONLY IF they contain COMPLETE follow-up details. If they don't, then  you won't get the #1 thing you want: BUSINESS.

 But merely including this crucial information isn't enough, not by a long shot. Rather,  you must give your prospects a reason to CALL YOU RIGHT NOW, not a day from  now, not an hour from now but RIGHT THIS MINUTE. And for this to happen, you  must give your prospects a reason to call NOW, immediately, at once, no  excuses  whatsoever, no excuses at all.

 Have you provided this absolutely essential sine qua non of successful business,  or have you rather presumed that your customers would know what to do and do it,  thereby placing the burden for action on the customer, rather than where it must be:  ON YOU!

 Now for the meat and potatoes of what makes you, yes YOU, such a rotten  marketer: You haven't MOTIVATED and ASKED the prospect to call you. You  haven't  given her a reason to call you NOW! Instead you sat back confident, obstinate,  stubborn in your blind smug assurance that THEY should call YOU without a reason,  an offer, even an invitation; celestial know-it-all that you are instead of doing what is  necessary, what is mandatory to get these all-important beings, the fountain of wealth  to call you NOW, this very minute.

 Look at the panoply of marketing communications before you, the communications  on which you're betting the ranch. Does any one, even a single one, open with  an offer, any benefit at all, for picking up the phone AT ONCE so that you can use  your magic to make them better off and make yourself more money? Even a single  one?

 The plain, honest and horrifying truth is that you are sending out thousands, hundreds  of thousand and over your business career, MILLIONS of marketing communications  that aren't delivering the customers you must have to get rich. And it's all your fault...

 No call to action. No benefit to call about. No business. No wonder!

 Here's what you need to do... so that motivated prospects call you... 24/7/365,  a wide world of prospects, clambering for the benefits that you, YOU, can deliver,  you lucky dog.

 Brainstorm motivating language, test, re-write, test again, then dance 'cause. cuz',  you are (finally) doing it right.

 Try this: "FREE consultation ($150 value). Expert shows you how to make money  online.  24/7 NOW! Profit today!"

 Now the acid test. Does even one of your marketing communications open  with an offer like this? No? Not even one? Well, then, what you're saying is  this, "I want your business. I want your money. But I'll do as little as possible  to get it." Wow, what a charmer you are, you are, what a wonderful charmer  you are --  not! Under the circumstances, with you doing so little to get your  prospects to respond, it is hardly surprising that they don't.

 Cut your throat, or cut your losses and PROFIT. Your choice.

 Having read this article, you now have two choices. Continue along the road  you're now on, the road featuring maximum hubris with minimal results. Or  the straight and sure highway to profits, more profits, and predictable wealth.  You'll tell me, of course, you'll take remunerative option 2, but we both know  you, don't we? You'll say you'll do better; you'll actually mean it, for a day or  two. Then back to the same ol' same ol', doing more of what has returned so  little.

 But at least one of you will heed my strict and certain admonitions, and you'll  get rich, really rich. Thus for you I have that indefatigable energy machine, James  Brown and his anthem for people who love money and, with my help, are well  on their way to getting it.... "I Feel Good."

 Find it in any search engine now (recorded 1965) . Play it loud and proud....

 "Whoa-oa-oa. I feel good, I knew that I would, now.  I feel good, I knew that I would, now  So good, so good, I got you."

 And that, cuz', is nothing but the glorious truth. Yeah!

Get Paid To Podcast, Teach, or Publish a Newsletter Online

Making money online is a matter of finding an audience who you can either advertise to or receive direct payment from. Either way, you need something interesting or informative with which to catch and hold your readers' attention. Your content is everything.

I'll show you how you can make money presenting and distributing content via podcast or a newsletter, and how you can connect directly with your audience as an online tutor.

Getting Paid To Podcast

To create a podcast, you will need a microphone and some recording software. If you have a camera, you can also produce video podcasts.

You can download a free recording program from audacity.sourceforge.net, where you will also find tutorials on the technical side of podcasting.

When you have the content and are able to produce good quality podcasts, you need listeners. You can find them by submitting your podcast to directories such as podcastalley.com, promoting it through a website or blog, or advertising in forums and newsletters.

The bigger your market, the better. Don't be afraid of competitive markets, they're big for a reason--they pay and people are listening!

You will then be able to make money by finding a sponsor who is willing to pay to reach your listeners. You could find your own advertisers, or join a podcasting network such as podtrac.com.

If your content is desirable enough, you can charge for access to it, through services such as iTunes (apple.com/itunes). If you are selling your podcast, however, it is a good idea to create a free content version too in order to reach new listeners.

How To Get Paid To Publish Online Newsletters

Even if you prefer the written word to audio podcasting, you will still need to take care of some technical details.

The best way to distribute newsletters is through an autoresponder list service. These can be set up to automatically deliver pre-written emails to subscribers at set intervals. Each new subscriber will receive all of the emails in your predetermined sequence. That means you can load up a year's worth of content (or more), and it'll automatically publish straight to your subscribers' email boxes without you touching it again!

A free autoresponder can be downloaded from responders.com, while a more professional program can be bought from aweber.com. These programs will also help with managing your subscriber list, so you stay spam compliant.

A successful newsletter will be attractive, easy to read, and compatible with different computers and internet browsers. You can create beautiful PDF documents using a free program such as openoffice.com.

Also, you do not have to create all your own content. You can get free stock photos and articles from sites such as publicdomainimages.net and ezinearticles.com. You can also pay for pre-written content from sites like associatedcontent.com.

Email newsletters are perfect for marketing your own products, if you are running an online business. You can also make money by selling space to advertisers or even charging for subscriptions.

By using the tools from services such as aweber.com, you can grow your online newsletter list to hundreds or even thousands of people.

Get Paid To Teach People All Over the World

If you have knowledge and experience to share then you can do so in a podcast or newsletter, or by writing content for a site such as demandstudios.com, who will pay for articles.

Alternatively, you can become an online tutor and communicate directly with students through video chat and email. You could find your own students by advertising your services on craigslist.org, or join a company who will pair you up with suitable learners.

In order to get the best jobs, you may need some relevant qualifications, such as a degree, proven experience in a particular field, or a teaching certificate of some kind.

Websites that recruit online teachers include universalclass.com, mytutor24.com, and tutor.com. Wiziq.com has a teacher directory where you can describe yourself and potential students can find you.

Having A Successful Home Based Business Made Easy

There are numerous reasons why you might be interested in starting your own home-based business, along with a great deal of doubt, concern and questions. Before starting a home business, be sure to research your market fully. If your product is something that your target market doesn't want or need, you won't get many sales. It is impossible, and therefore imperative that you incorporate a well devised budget into the planning process. This budget should include what your expenses are of course and it should itemize them. Make sure you are thorough and include everything so that you are not misleading yourself.

Use your web site to advertise a free product for visitors. This will increase traffic on your site and give potential customers the ability to sample your product. Although it may cost a little money in the beginning, you should make up for it in sales from impressed new customers.

Do not be afraid to post your email address on your web site. Make sure that you include it on every separate page that you have. You do not want potential customers to search to figure out how to get in touch with you. The more effort that it takes them, the more likely they are to go on to something else without purchasing from you.

Make sure you have a support network before starting your home business. This includes family members who need to be aware of the time commitment involved, as well as an external networks you can reach out to for advice or support. The way to make money online is by building a list.

Making money online is an ACTION you must take consistently to generate leads and make sales. Without a list you have no one to sell your products and services.  You have no one to buy what you are offering.

You use landing pages to generate leads with an optin to your list/newsletter.

How do you get people to see your landing pages so they can optin to your list?

You must promote consistently.  Your focus in earning online should be 100% on promotion.

He learns he must plant more trees to get more apples.  It takes a while to grow the trees and get the apples, there is no such thing as INSTANT apples.   Then he has to nurture those trees, buy fertilizer, work hard to increase his apple harvest, invest in equipment to farm his orchard, find people to buy his apples.  If you want more apples (and more money) you have to invest,  put in the time,  and work your business consistently to make it grow.

In a Biz op or doing Affiliate Marketing? 5 SHOCKING REASONS why you aren't getting any leads.

1.  You are promoting a website and not a Landing Page, also known as a Squeeze page.

To generate leads you need an eye-popping landing page. It's exactly what it sounds like. You promote your landing page, people LAND on it, see your offer and provide you with their contact info so they can get more details on what you offer. Your standard website simply can't accomplish this effectively, usually websites are too busy, to generic, too "professional." In contrast a landing page SCREAMS benefit! It tells readers what they will get (SOMETHING AWESOME) but they must act now!     Landing pages are FILLED with benefits, short punchy copy that gets attention. Landing pages include a limited time offer, they include a form that needs to be completed in order to get the offer. Guess what you are doing with that lead form? YES! You are generating a LEAD, and getting the follow up info you need to provide the requested material/product, then follow up, and build your house list for sending future offers to that person.  Did you catch that last part about list building? I slipped that in an the end, but it is IMPORTANT.  A Landing Page must ALWAYS   ALWAYS give readers the option to SUBSCRIBE to your newsletter/or future offers.  You've worked hard to generate that lead so do your best to offer them the chance to receive future offers or mailings from you.

2.  Your promotional copy is boring.

In case you haven't noticed you've got oodles of competition out there. The web is filled with gizmos and gadgets. Your copy needs to get noticed or it will die a quick death in the email trash folder. Whether your offer is an email offer, or a landing page, or an online post, you have got to lead with a powerful headline, and follow that up with copy that keeps people reading.  Most affiliate companies provide you with excellent copy or banners for promotion. Don't try to rewrite something better if that is not your strong suit, use what they provide, copy, paste send.  Simplify.        

3. You haven't made an offer.

If you want to get leads you MUST, MUST, MUST make an  offer.  Whatever  your pitch is REWARD the person reading it for taking action - NOW - TODAY - in the next 24 hours! Instill excitement and a sense of urgency. You've got a great product or offer  right? You don't want people clicking off any moving on to something else. You want and MUST get people to read and RESPOND to your offer. Give them reasons to do so.    Don't know what to offer?  Check for online products and affiliates that include Private Label and  resell rights, if they do you can use those as leverage in your offers.  By adding these you can convert a luke-warm offer into one that is HOT, HOT, HOT.

4. You aren't marketing in the right places to the right people.

A lot of  people new to online marketing make the mistake of spending money on advertising or leads that never produce results.  Taking shortcuts and buying mass leads or mass lists simply doesn't work. I am going to say that again. If you think you will generate QUALITY leads by buying mass lists, visitors, subscribers or hits, stop right now. Sorry to tell you the harsh truth, but building an online business means finding the best places to advertise that target YOUR market.  Hint: Google is NOT the place to start if you have a small budget.  In the business opportunity market you will want to look at Safelist marketing, Traffic Exchanges, Solo Ads, Ad Swaps, and email marketing providers like Aweber and GetResponse.  Your budget for online promotion doesn't have to be huge but you will get the best results with paid ads at reputable sources.  Do your homework.

5. You are so busy copy, pasting and promoting you have forgotten one of the most important rules in business.

Personality can make all the difference.  Connecting with people is the key to making sales.  In your zest to build your online business, don't forget to be a REAL PERSON. Include your name, email address, skype number, facebook etc on your ad copy to provide people with assurance that you are more than a promoter, you are an online business owner.  Anything you can do to stand out and separate yourself from all the other offers out there helps.

How to help your CEO help you -- and the company. Candid thoughts, observations and a much needed venting by One Who Knows.

Author's Program Note. In the 1980 film "9 to 5", Dolly Parton sings the title song. Of course it is an attack on "the boss" in memorable lines like this:

"Nine to five, for service and devotion You would think that I Would deserve a fair promotion Want to move ahead But the boss won't let me I swear sometimes that man is out to get me."

When I saw the film the head of every Sally and Sam in the audience was rhythmically nodding in unbreakable solidarity... the boss was a schmuck... and that was that.

Pity the poor CEO.

If these are the sentiments directed at every boss in every business on this planet, then you can be sure these sentiments may be multiplied by many times when directed at the Chief Executive Officer, THE Boss, the biggest cheese. El Jefe Maximo, a person universally known as fake, incompetent, probably immoral, certainly amoral, a disaster for the company, vastly overpaid and already richer than Croesus by squeezing the last drop of blood and service out of every employee, especially those whose ideas he steals with alacrity, impunity, and a demented grin for the credit and enhanced compensation such Machiavellian dexterity always delivers.

Thus CEO, the culprit of the enterprise, a personage causing universal grief, outrage, embarrassment, and of course, secret envy from aggrieved personnel who would assume the toxic burden and every affronting characteristic, criticism and derogatory comment without thinking twice, even if it involved garroting their own mother.

It is in defence of this sitting target that I, CEO for over 18 years and counting, rise and must speak, for although there is much grandeur in his lofty position and the luxurious lifestyle many millions a year can deliver, there is no one who knows the true value and significance of CEOs than one who is one himself. He knows! And must therefore speak out of experience augmented by joy at the opportunity to sustain and laud his corporate peers, since so much said about them is inaccurate, mean-spirited, venomous, petty, painful, hurtful, distorted, unhelpful, biased, malicious, erroneous, mischievous, balderdash and complete rubbish... but you get the picture.

Insight one for CEOs of every age, temperament, disposition, and success.

Each and every one of your employees, directors, agents, representatives, et al knows (not just supposes) that he could run the company better than you, the sitting duck with the mahogany desk and assured parking place, even if blind folded, one hand tied behind his back, and baboons as department heads. Oh, yes, and double profits, increase salaries and circle corporate headquarters with a riot of Christian Dior roses. So there!

Exhibit Number One, Your Honor.

There is a reason I am writing this article today rather than wasting my limitless corporate subsidized time on the golf course, which is universally known as a den of the most expensive and rare executive iniquities. That is a stinker of a letter I received the other day from one of my company's representatives. Now the contents and commentaries found at their most prolix profusion were in no way new , viz. the author of the letter summed me up as a bumbler, stupid, arrogant, supercilious, out of touch, brain dead... and that was just for openers. The rest of the condemnatory barrage was unprintable, even in these lax days.

No, I'd heard that all before. Even the misspellings were unoriginal and pedestrian. No, what made this epistolary stink bomb so notable was the time I received it... the very day I was receiving special recognition upon the completion and implementation of an innovative system for the assistance of individuals, organizations,enterprises, companies, and corporations which needed timely, professional copy for their blog sites. Much time, energy, imagination and intelligence had gone into creating what was acknowledged by experts to be brilliant.

And because of the project's importance to our company and world, there was to be special recognition for me, the lead sled dog. Thus gathered the poobahs of our organization in gay regalia in good voice and good temper to sing hallelujah... all but the individual who chose this moment, of all moments, to expostulate about my many defects, on the day one of the signal achievements of my life was acknowledged.

Deliberately hurtful, or just bad luck?

There is a question here I would like an answer to, but shall probably never get: Why was this punishing letter deliberately sent at that specific time to blot a grandly festive day... or was the delivery time accidental, a coincidence? This is a factor in evaluating the matter... but does not, of course, fundamentally change it. No matter. What does matter is the following list of crucial things you must know and do, things which the sender of the badly conceived e-mail letter needs to know -- and begin implementing at once:

1) Even if you are as "mad as hell", and especially if you are master of a slashing prose style, leave anything you write to your CEO for your tempered evaluation 24 hours after writing. You'll most likely be glad you did. A stitch in time, saves nine!

2) Whatever communications you sent to your CEO should be respectful of tone, brief, put as positively as possible and as professionally as possible. Every purplish prose patch must be deleted at once and completely. Remember, this is your CEO you're contacting. Unless you have a death wish, tread warily and conservatively.

3) Couch all communications as problems to be solved, not voluble attacks to hurt and inflame. Problem solvers get promoted. Attackers get no such consideration.

4) Consider whether raising the issue now is the best possible time for progress and resolution. Timing is everything.

5) NEVER make the issue personal. That is always the worst possible way to secure CEO attention, CEO action, CEO assistance. And remember this, a pearl of wisdom from Niccolo Machiavelli (1469-1527), when you attack the prince, you must kill the prince, or the prince will kill you. A CEO saying "me recordo" (I remember) may not be a prince available to assist you when you need his services, for the prince is human... very human indeed. Thus, to my final and most important reflection: the CEO is the designated leader of your company. He has a right to expect your respect, your support, your courtesy, your wisdom and your help, as he leads you to the promised land -- "Waitin' for the day your ship'll come in/And the tide's gonna turn/ And it's all gonna roll your way."
